[ She can still smile, thankfully (despite this sickness making her hella grumpy) and she'll offer him one now as she carefully frees up her hands to take the bowl from him.
... It takes about eight attempts at blowing steam off her spoonful, but she's not screeching about burnt tongues when she pops it in her mouth, so her valiant efforts succeeded. ]
[terra made sure he was well-stocked last time. and soup's easy to make, so roxas likes eating it when he's not totally sick of it.
but as mary makes an attempt to eat, he's just going to flop somewhat listlessly on the couch next to her. he's too warm for blankets now, but all of that took a lot of energy out of him. being sick is hard, how do people do this?]
[ They don't, usually. Mary's got stamina to gain back, but her appetite's still pretty pathetic, and it'll take her awhile to get through half the bowl before she has to give up for now. ]
You really do look tired... [ But now she can comment on Roxas' droopy status. ]
... [ She sets the bowl down on the nearest flat surface and shuffles closer, to press their shoulders together (through the blanket). Contact made people feel better, right? It feels like it's been forever since they've been this close-- even if it's just been a few days. ]
[it does feel like it's been forever, but time passes so slowly when they feel this way. maybe it's only been a few days, but it feels like ages. roxas isn't even thinking much about it as he leans into the gesture a bit before nodding slightly.]
Yeah. I mean... I think so. I don't really remember them when I wake up, though.
I don't, either... I just know I'm really scared when I wake up. And my heart's beating really fast.
[ So whatever she'd dreamed about... must have been terrifying. She toys with the edges of the blanket now, frowning. ] I don't know how to make them stop, either.
It might be... I don't remember it being hard to sleep the last time I was sick. And I've had nightmares I can't remember before, but never all the time like this.
[ Mary groans a little, sagging more against Roxas' shoulder. ]
[ Mary tries to think this through properly, but with her head pounding like it is, she can't really come up with a good or comforting explanation for that sort of thing. ]
That happened here, once... except the person whose memories you dreamed about also dreamed about yours.
[it's fine that she doesn't get it. he mostly does now, even if he's not really keen on accepting it. but that can be something that gets dealt with another time. it doesn't seem all that necessary at the moment.]
That sounds pretty weird... [he makes a face, but then he adds:] I guess "weird" is pretty normal around here, though.
no subject
...You don't think it's something like that, do you? [because if it is, they're kind of just doing nothing to help fix it, and that's a problem.]
no subject
no subject
Do we even have anything like that here?
no subject
[ A pause, and she tugs a little at her blanket. ]
... But there's gotta be a way, right? If we get too much worse, things could get really bad.
no subject
[he sighs, and the microwave beeps, though he'll give it a minute to cool before he takes it out and brings over the bowl and spoon to her.]
It's still pretty hot, so be careful.

[the sleep is miserable anyway, being sick. but then there are the nightmares, which just makes it that much less restful.]
no subject
Are you having nightmares too?
no subject
Yeah. I mean... I think so. I don't really remember them when I wake up, though.
no subject

[so it's not exactly as if he can help here. he feels kind of bad though, reminding her of it.]
It wasn't like this before I started feeling sick. Is that... do you think that's the reason, maybe?
no subject
[ Mary groans a little, sagging more against Roxas' shoulder. ]
I hope that means it'll stop when we get better.
no subject
Yeah... I hope so too. It's hard to get sleep at all this way.
no subject
We've gotta keep trying, though... otherwise we're not going to sleep at all, and that's even worse.
[ So she's been told. A few times now. ]
no subject
[it's not for a lack of trying, at least. he hasn't let the nightmares stop him from trying to sleep, after all.]
no subject
[ Because she used to share a bed with her mom. ]
no subject
[the dreams themselves, at least. they're startling when he's woken from them, but it's pretty short-lived so he hasn't really thought about it much.]
no subject
[ Well, she's not wrong. ]
no subject
no subject
[ He's not still having them if they were, hopefully, but there's a note of concern in her... still raspy voice. ]
no subject
[because they were sora's obviously. but he's still pretty unwilling to cope with it, so whatever.]
no subject
[ Mary tries to think this through properly, but with her head pounding like it is, she can't really come up with a good or comforting explanation for that sort of thing. ]

[ That hadn't ended well. ]
